THR is reporting that HBO plans on redeveloping “Lewis And Clark“. It’s still unclear if Matthias, or any of the cast, will return to the project.
HBO is all but abandoning the six-part miniseries starring Casey Affleck and Matthias Schoenaerts. “We have decided to redevelop Lewis and Clark with Michelle Ashford writing,” HBO said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, confirming that it is going back to the drawing board with the high-profile historical drama.
Ashford, who is currently serving as the showrunner on Showtime’s Masters of Sex, penned the original script with Ed Norton and John Curran (The Painted Veil). Once her rewrite comes in, the cabler will have to greenlight the project a second time. In the event that the new version does move forward, HBO will then evaluate whether or not previously shot footage is usable (sources say several episodes were filmed) and if roles will be recast.
Deadline is reporting that Matthias is in talks to join his “A Bigger Splash” co-star Dakota Johnson in the upcoming movie “The Sound Of Metal“.
Deals are making for Fifty Shades Of Grey‘s Dakota Johnson to star with The Danish Girl‘s Matthias Schoenaerts in The Sound Of Metal, a drama that will mark the directorial debut of Darius Marder, who is best known for his collaborations with filmmaker Derek Cianfrance including co-writing The Place Beyond The Pines. Michael Costigan and Ben Leclair are producing.
Johnson will play a singer in a band, and Schoenaerts plays the drummer. Everything changes when he begins to lose his hearing and has to come to grips with a future that will be filled with silence.
The film is in the process of being set for financing, but the plan is to shoot in August.

Variety is reporting that Adele Exarchopoulos has joined Matthias in “The Faitful“, which finally seems to be moving forward with the movie seeking for (international) buyers.
Adele Exarchopoulos (“Blue Is the Warmest Color”) will star opposite Matthias Schoenaerts in Michael R. Roskam’s “The Faithful,” a noirish romance thriller set against the backdrop of crime gangs in Brussels.
Wild Bunch has come on board to take international sales while Pathe will handle distribution in France. Pierre-Ange Le Pogam’s Stone Angels is producing with Bart Van Langendonck’s Savage Films, who produced Belgian helmer’s Oscar-nominated “Bullhead.”
Although the plot of the film remains under wraps, the glamorous onscreen couple formed by Exarchopoulos and Schoenaerts and the track-record of Roskam will likely spark buyers’ anticipation for the project, which will start shooting next year.
“The Faithful” is penned by Thomas Bidegain (“A Prophet”) and Noe Debre, the screenwriters behind Jacques Audiard’s Palme-d’Or winning “Dheepan.” Debre’s recent credits include “The Cowboys,” which marks Bidegain’s directorial debut and screens in Toronto.
Roskam made his English-language debut with 2014’s “The Drop,” starring Tom Hardy, Noomi Rapace and the late James Gandolfini.
Matthias has been circling this project for a while now with a report about the production moving forward in January of this year.
