“Disorder” (Maryland) Finds UK & Canadian Distributor

Screendaily is reporting that “Disorder” (Maryland) found a distributor for the U.K. and Canada. No word yet on the release date. Many thanks to Sarah for the heads up!

Soda has picked up three Toronto titles, including Ben Wheatley drama-thriller.

Soda has also picked up the UK and Canadian rights for Alice Winocour’s Disorder, which stars Matthias Schoenaerts as an ex-solider suffering from PTSD who is hired by a Lebanese businessman to protect his wife and child.

The film originally screened in the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes and is receiving a gala presentation in Toronto.

Disorder” (Maryland) will screen during the Toronto International Film Festival with it’s first screening on September 17. It will have a press & industry screening on September 13. Matthias is expected to attend the festival, where “The Danish Girl” will also have screenings.

“A Bigger Splash” Selected For BFI London Film Festival

“A Bigger Splash” Selected For BFI London Film Festival

The 59th BFI London Film Festival announced it’s line-up earlier today and it was announced that “A Bigger Splash” will screen at the festival as a Love Gala premiere. The movie will have a screening on Friday, October 9 and Monday, October 12. The festival runs from October 7-18. A Bigger Splash
In the Sicilian sunshine, a rock star, her lover, a producer and his daughter meet in this sizzling drama from Luca Guadagnino (I Am Love).

Marianne (Tilda Swinton) is a glittering rock star on a hiatus with her filmmaker lover Paul (Matthias Schoenaerts). Recovering from an operation on her throat, she has retreated from both the public gaze and her performance persona (an androgynous cross between Mick Jagger and David Bowie). Poolside, stripped naked in the scorching Italian sun and seemingly at ease, the lovers are completely unprepared for the sudden arrival of cocky music producer Harry (Ralph Fiennes) and his recently discovered daughter, the petulant and sexy Penelope (Dakota Johnson). Some clothes get ripped off, while others get put back on in this deliciously overheated drama with a dangerous edge. A remake of Jacques Deray and Jean-Claude Carrière’s La Piscine (1969) which draws its title from David Hockney’s painting of the same era, A Bigger Splash transposes the original story from the French Riviera to Pantelleria, a volcanic, windswept Sicilian island that heaves with the same violence as the character’s emotions. Luca Guadagnino sharply contrasts the cocooned oasis of these privileged tourists with the everyday lives of the local islanders and the illegal African immigrants looking for shelter. As with Guadagnino and Swinton’s previous collaboration I am Love, the film cleaves the surfaces of a rarefied lifestyle. Here though, emotions are luxuriously untethered and celebrity wins out over morality and the law.

“Lewis And Clark” Gets Spring 2016 Production Date

Deadline is reporting that “Lewis And Clark” will resume production in the spring. It’s unclear yet if the original cast will return.

HBO’s high-profile six-hour miniseries Lewis And Clark, starring Casey Affleck and Matthias Schoenaerts, will resume production in the spring. I hear the cast already has been informed of the new start date.

“As we looked at the schedule for Lewis and Clark and assessed the winter weather challenges ahead, we decided to remount the production in the spring,” HBO said in a statement to Deadline. “We are currently searching for a new director and director of photography. We are also in conversations now with the actors’ representatives to coordinate their schedules for next year.”

The decision to resume filming next year comes three weeks after the pay cable network shut down filming on the project temporarily after a rough early going, with internal as well as external, weather-related factors, impacting the production. “For creative reasons, director John Curran and director of photography Rob Hardy will be leaving the production,” HBO said at the time.
